Ptilium affine is a beetle from the family of dwarf beetles (Ptiliidae).

features

The beetles reach a body length of 0.6 to 0.65 millimeters. Their body is dark in color, thinly covered in dusty hair and strongly arched. The pronotum has a sharply incised, almost complete central furrow and two longitudinal lines on both sides in the rear part of the shield. The sides of the pronotum are flared in front of the base and have a fine but noticeable edge. Its side lines run almost parallel and stand out sharply. The upper wings are yellow-brown translucent in color, they are more rounded on the sides and slightly shorter than in Ptilium caesum . The antennae and legs are yellow.

Occurrence and way of life

The species occurs in Europe and the Caucasus . It is widespread from England via Denmark to France and Italy. In Central Europe, the species is only found locally and very rarely.
