Publicexpress was a private long-distance bus company from Oldenburg in Lower Saxony . Independent bus transport was operated on the Bremen - Oldenburg (Oldb) - Groningen route with four pairs of journeys per day and five at weekends. In Bremen the main train station and the airport are served , in Oldenburg the main train station and the university , in Groningen the central station (main train station). On January 22nd, 2010, the company also opened a stop in the direction of Groningen at the Apen / Remels truck stop on federal motorway 28 . Since June 15, 2010 the Autohof Apen / Remels has also offered trips to Oldenburg, Bremen Airport and Bremen Hbf / ZOB.

On July 6, 2015, Publicexpress announced that it would be discontinuing the main Bremen – Groningen route at the end of August 2, 2015, after 11 years of operation, and thus also the Publicexpress brand. The main reason for the decision was the recent introduction of the Lower Saxony Ticket plus Groningen rail service .

history

The company was founded in 2005 by Christoph Marquardt . According to the company, more than 70,000 passengers used the offer annually in 2009.

From April 2009 Publicexpress offered another line as an express bus from Aurich to Bremen with six pairs of trips. However, due to insufficient demand, the line was discontinued in October 2009.

In 2009, Publicexpress received the bus planner innovation award from the industry magazine “Busplaner” for its tariff and timetable system .

In January 2012 the company was taken over by the British company Marwyn European Transport .

With a second cross-border long-distance bus route from Mannheim via Karlsruhe to Strasbourg , the company expanded its range of routes in June 2013. Initially, three to four trip pairs were offered from Friday to Sunday. In addition, transfer connections from Groningen and Oldenburg to Hamburg and Berlin have been offered in cooperation with Fass Reisen since autumn 2012 .

In September 2014, the company filed for bankruptcy. The previous subcontractor Gerdes Reisen then took over the line to Groningen and Publicexpress as the brand. Gerdes Reisen ceased operations almost a year later, effective August 2, 2015.
