Canary Island Gran Canaria and belongs to the municipality of Mogán . It is located on the south coast of the island between Arguineguín and Puerto de Mogán on the GC-1 . To the west, the town of Amadores, another tourist center, borders Puerto Rico. The population is 4,433 (as of 2011). Originally the Barranco was wasteland and was only opened up for tourism in the early 1970s . The place has meanwhile grown into the two side valleys. The sheltered location in the bay often ensures calm. An artificial sandy beach and two sports harbors, Puerto Escala and Puerto Base, are located on a mole-protected bay . The place is considered the water sports paradise of Gran Canaria. It is connected to the public bus network. As a holiday destination, it is particularly popular with British and Scandinavian tourists and has several shopping centers as well as shops and restaurants in all districts, which primarily cover the tourist needs.
