Pugh Rogefeldt (born March 2, 1947 in Västerås , as Anders Sture Torbjörn Rogefeldt ) is a Swedish musician , singer and songwriter .

Career

As a child, Rogefeldt sang in the church choir before playing with various blues bands in his youth. At the end of the 1960s he sent demo cassettes, only the music label Metronome Records showed interest. In the meantime, however, he had been drafted into military service, so he had to illegally leave the troupe to record his debut single "Haru vart på cirkus", released in 1968 , for which he was given a three-month prison sentence.

In 1969 Rogefeldt recorded his debut album "Ja, Dä ä Dä" with guitarist George Wadenius and drummer and later actor Jan Karlsson from the progressive band Hansson and Karlsson , which was a commercial success in Sweden and received a Grammy there. His following albums were also characterized by a mixture of blues rock, jazz, funk and folk. He was able to celebrate successes especially in the 1970s, while at the time he collaborated with a number of well-known Swedish musicians from a wide variety of musical styles such as Peps Persson , Janne Schaffer and Ola Magnell . From the middle of the decade he worked with the band Rainrock .

In 1978 Rogefeldt tried the song "Nattmara" in the national qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest , but failed among other things behind the later participant Björn Skifs . He also separated from his band and switched to the EMI label as a solo artist . As a result, the creeping decline in Rogefeldt's career began, before he was able to celebrate another minor success with the self-titled album "Pugh Rogefeldt" after his reunion with Rainrock in the mid-1980s.

After it became quiet again after Rogefeldt, he returned to the limelight with the supergroup Grymlings , which he formed together with his compatriots Mikael Rickfors , Magnus Lindberg and Göran Lagerberg , and a short time later released his own solo album, “Mannniskors Hantverk” . After this sold poorly, but he had made money with the supergroup project, he initially retired. Another album was released in 1999 with “Pugh Maraton” and in the same year there was a duet with rapper Petter Askergren on his three-time platinum album “Bananrepubliken”.

In 2003 Rogefeldt released a best-of album that made it into the top ten of the Swedish charts. Spurred on by the success, he released two years later with the support of Sylvester Schlegel from The Ark and Micke Lohse from Atomic Swing under the name "Opluggad Pugh 1" an album with acoustic versions of his most famous tracks. In 2008 he again relied on the support of The Ark: produced by Martin Axén , the album "Vinn Hjärta Vinn" rose to the top twenty titles in the Swedish charts and stayed in the charts for nine weeks.
