The Puhoi River is an approximately 18 km long river on the east coast of the Northland Peninsula on the North Island of New Zealand .
geography
The river has its source around 7 km northwest of Puhoi in a mountain landscape that has its highest point with the 357 m high Moir Hill . Around 2.5 km southeast of the town of Puhoi , the small river widens into an arm of the sea under the influence of the tides, until it flows into the Hauraki Gulf a good 5 km east of Puhoi .
The Wenderholm Regional Park is located in the mouth of the Puhoi River .

From Puhoi the river can be paddled with kayaks . Fishing is also possible in the water.
