Pule Mabe (* 1980 ) is a South African politician and journalist .

Life

Mabe joined Masupatsela , the ANC youth pioneer movement, as a child . He studied journalism at Tshwane Technical University , where he graduated. During his studies he was vice-chairman of the student council and a member of the national executive committee of the South African student association of technical universities and editor-in-chief of a student newspaper. After graduating, he worked for the Mail & Guardian newspaper . He founded KG Media , a publishing house that he still owns today. In 2008 he was elected treasurer of the ANC Youth League . Six months after his election, his publisher began to publish a free magazine for subway passengers on behalf of Metrorail .

Mabe is married and has two children.

Treasurer of ANCYL

At the end of February 2012, complaints against Mabe's administration became known after he had been named as a possible successor in the context of the events surrounding ANCYL chairman Julius Malema . After some newspapers reported that Mabe had been suspended, the ANCYL National Committee declared that the youth league was "disgusted" by the press coverage of Mabe and Malema, called it a "disinformation campaign" and called for several major newspapers, including the Sowetan and the Times , an apology. Mabe himself expressed himself in an ANCYL press release and spoke of "malicious rumors" against him and the youth league, the purpose of which was to undermine the organization and prevent the country's economic freedom. He called Malema the "commander in chief of economic freedom". Despite his public support for Malema, Mabe is being traded as a possible successor to the ANCYL presidency because he has more experience and influence than Vice President Ronald Lamola . In view of the need for a new election of the Executive Committee (NEC) of the ANCYL, Mabe is listed as a presidential candidate on an “anti-malema list”.

At a meeting of the NEC on May 4th and 5th, 2012 in Johannesburg , his trust was withdrawn, presumably because of financial irregularities and divisive behavior, and he was released from his office as treasurer, but not excluded from the ANCYL. After it became known that Mabe had been delivered, there were scuffles between his and Malema's followers. Mabe himself emphasized that he would remain a member of the ANCYL and respect the internal processes of the youth league. He turned to the Secretary General of the ANC with a request to reverse his removal because the NEC meeting was not in accordance with the rules of the ANCYL; a spokesman for the ANC said the complaint would be considered as soon as it was received. After a meeting of the ANC top, the Youth League was ordered at the end of May 2012 to examine the delivery because it did not comply with the regulations. On June 3, 2012, the General Secretary of ANCLY Province Gauteng announced that Mabe had been reinstated, which a spokeswoman for the national committee denied. On the same day, the delegates of the Gauteng Provincial Congress at the University of Johannesburg approved Mabe's candidacy against Malema as chairman. On August 6, 2012, Mabe stated that he was still the official treasurer of the ANCYL, as there was no evidence of his impeachment and an impeachment due to a lack of confidence in the ANCYL constitution was not planned.
