Pulga (Spanish for "flea"; also: Big Bar ) is an unincorporated area in Butte County , California . In the city there is a Caltrans Highway Maintenance Station (possibly comparable to German highway maintenance depots ) of the California Department of Transportation on California State Route 70 (SR 70). The place is at the mouth of Flea Valley Creek , which contributed to the name of the place.

The trains of the Union Pacific Railroad operates daily with the Canyon Division in the area. The route was originally built by the Western Pacific Railroad and is known for its scenic views from the trains. The observation wagons called Vista Dome were designed and built with this in mind. Nowadays, the route is used by a constant flow of freight trains that primarily transport wood.

Using the SR 70 offers picturesque views of the rocky gorge. Lattice girder bridges along the highway were seismically upgraded in 2004 in order to prepare them for earthquakes inevitable in California .

Cresta went online in 1949, Camp Creek a year later. The area around these works is referred to as Mayaro on some topographic, highway, or railroad maps. Another place name (Cresta) is given about a mile beyond the work of the same name.
