Pulmoll - cough drops are a brand-name product of about Zertus belonging company Kalfany from Müllheim (Baden) .

history

The Pulmoll cough drop was invented in 1946 by the French pharmacist Jacques Lafarge . The Pulmoll brand is derived from the Latin word pulmones , which means lungs . The small candies became a great success in France and just ten years after their invention, Laboratoires Lafarge were already producing over 10 million cans a year. In 1956 Pulmoll Classic was launched on the German market and sold exclusively in pharmacies . Pulmoll was a registered trademark of Sanofi SA Paris until July 1999 and belonged to Numico until mid-2003. In Germany, Pulmoll was manufactured by Milupa AG in Friedrichsdorf im Taunus until it was taken over by Zertus .

In July 2003, Zertus from Hamburg - specialized in market niches in the food and luxury food sector - took over the Pulmoll brand. Its subsidiary Kalfany Süße Werbung GmbH & Co. KG is one of the leading manufacturers of canned sweets. Kalfany Süße Werbung is responsible for the production of the Pulmoll cough and throat drops, while the marketing and sales are carried out by the sister company Importhaus Wilms / Impuls GmbH & Co. KG from Taunusstein .

Pulmoll candies are now available in eleven varieties, which are mainly sold by pharmacies, drugstores and retailers. The Pulmoll Classic variety is still considered a classic. Since September 2007, Pulmoll Soft has been offering innovative, soft chewing pastilles in the Classic and Kirsch + Vitamin C variants.

advertising

Pulmoll enjoys a high level of brand awareness among the German population, not least because of the unusual packaging. The Pulmoll advertising campaign with Roberto Blanco and the slogan "Pulmoll - The good things for the throat and throat" became known in the 1970s . Since October 2005 the comedian Rüdiger Hoffmann has been promoting the cough and throat drops from Pulmoll with "Try it on the gentle tour". On old sheet metal billboards, the scarf around the neck of a duck in the rain also has the slogan "In duck weather - Pulmoll".

Aldi sells almost identical products seasonally under the name Hustinetten Original , which are produced by CEBE Bonbon GmbH, which belongs to Kalfany.
