The Pummpälzweg is a cycling and hiking trail in Thuringia . The Pummpälzweg runs over a length of 28 kilometers from Eisenach via Ruhla , the Kissel and Profisch to Bad Salzungen .

The path was opened on June 9, 2002 by the then Prime Minister of Thuringia, Bernhard Vogel .

Naming and chronicle

The path is named after the goblin Pummpälz of the Thuringian world of legends. The goblin is said to have ambushed hikers and jumped on their necks to be carried. He is said to have slapped the hikers in the face.

The naming took place on 7 June 2001, Palas the Wartburg by the then Chief Executive of the Wartburg circle Martin Kaspari , who acted as patron of the project. The Pummpälzweg eV association, founded in August 2002, takes care of the care and maintenance of the path.

Sculpture trail

Along the Pummpälzweg, around 30 wooden sculptures have become well-known Thuringian legends - “The Sword Swords of the Wartburg”, “The Blacksmith of Ruhla”, “The Bride Born”, “The Beer Donkey”, “The First Gumpelstädter Church”, “Landgrave Ludwig Tames the Lion "And" Die Wilde Sau "- installed. The wood carving work comes from students of the carving school Empfertshausen .
