Punk in the pot
Punk im Pott is the largest indoor punk festival in Germany. It has been held annually in the Ruhr area since 1999 ; Initially in the Carl colliery in Essen , since 2006 in the turbine hall in Oberhausen . The festival always takes place on two days between Christmas and New Year's Eve.
Many bands gave exclusive concerts at the Punk im Pott Festival. Sphincter and hate played their farewell concerts and Eisenpimmel their very first concert at Punk im Pott. Sphincters even played a “farewell concert” for two years in a row (2005 and 2006). At Punk im Pott 2008, the 10th anniversary, Bone Factory and Blut + Eisen gave their first concerts after the Ruhrpott Rodeo Festival 2008, after both bands had taken a longer concert break. The festival organizer is Alex Schwers from Rodeorock Produktion, who has also played in bands such as Slime , Hass , Rasta Knast , Jeff Dahl Group, Bone Factory and many more.
The Punk-im-Pott Festival was temporarily banned by the Oberhausen Public Order Office in 2008 after riots broke out in 2007 in which two police officers were injured and fire brigade vehicles that had to arrive due to a fire were damaged. “Punk im Pott” therefore took place in 2008 in Berlin. After the organizer and the city of Oberhausen have come to an agreement, the 2009 festival will again take place in the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen.
