The Ruhrpott Rodeo is considered the largest punk festival in Germany.

The festival has been held every summer since 2007. In the first year the venue was the Gelsenkirchen Amphitheater ; since 2008 it has been on an open-air site at Dinslaken / Schwarze Heide airfield in Hünxe near Bottrop. An average of 7,000 visitors came to the festivals. In 2012 5000 visitors were counted. In 2013 there were 7500 visitors.

The organizer of the festival is Alex Schwers , who played or plays drums in countless bands, e.g. B. at Slime , Jeff Dahl , Hass , Bone Factory , Eisenpimmel and Rasta Knast .

In 2010 the German punk bands Slime and WIZO gave their first concerts at the Ruhrpott Rodeo after breaks. Other well-known punk bands that performed at the Ruhrpott Rodeo are Bone Factory , Betontod , Hass , Chefdenker , Buzzcocks , Cock Sparrer , Toy Dolls , Fahnenflucht , Die Lokalmatadore , Third Choice , Jello Biafra . In 2012 Slime presented her first album at the Ruhrpott Rodeo after the band was founded in 2010. The American punk legend Black Flag made her first appearance in Germany in 26 years at the Ruhrpott Rodeo 2013.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , the 2020 festival had to be canceled. At the same time, the festival was announced for 2021. It should take place on July 2-4. All cards remain valid.
