Richie Ramone
Richard Reinhardt (Beau) (born August 11, 1957 ), also known as Richie Ramone , is an American drummer . From 1983 to 1987 he was the drummer of the punk band Ramones under this pseudonym . He stepped in for Marky Ramone in 1983 , who had been fired from the band because of alcohol problems.
Career with the Ramones
Richie Ramone played a slightly harder and faster drum style than his two predecessors Marky and Tommy Ramone . At the beginning of his membership in the band, however, it was not easy for him to keep up with the tempo of the music. He was a drummer on the Ramones albums Too Tough to Die , Animal Boy and Halfway to Sanity, as well as about 400 live performances by the band. Richie Ramone wrote several songs for the Ramones, including Human Kind and Somebody Put Something In My Drink (the latter allegedly after accidentally drinking an acidified drink), I Know Better Now, and I'm not Jesus . Richie Ramone was only considered a singer on two of the Ramones' pieces. He sang the chorus of Wart Hog and the almost unknown title Can't Say Anything Nice , which was only released as the B-side of a 1986 single only in Europe .
The band's relationship with Richie Ramone was, according to guitarist Johnny Ramone, purely business-like. Singer Joey Ramone and Richie were also private friends. According to Joey Ramone, Richie Ramone saved the band's cohesion. In 2001, Richie was present at Joey's funeral, unlike the rest of the band members Johnny, Marky and Dee Dee Ramone .
The Ramones had an additional source of income in the 1980s with the sale of their band t-shirts. As a band member and because his name appeared on the t-shirts, Richie Ramone demanded a quarter of the income. When this request was rejected by the others, he left the band voluntarily after a live performance on August 12, 1987, immediately before three concerts in New York City, which the band had already booked, which had to be canceled. His successor in the band was again Marky Ramone, who had meanwhile overcome his addiction problem.
