Acid Eaters (German: LSD -Esser ) is the thirteenth studio album by the New York punk band Ramones . It was released in December 1993 and only contains covers by other musicians.

Background information

The Ramones have had music by other performers in their repertoire since the beginning of their career, including Needles and Pins by Searchers , Surfin 'Bird by The Trashmen and Let's Dance by Chris Montez . For Acid Eaters , the Ramones recorded covers of the Rolling Stones , Who , Byrds , Creedence Clearwater Revival , the Troggs and Jan and Dean, among others . Acid Eaters was produced by Scott Hackwith and is the Ramones' second album without founding member Dee Dee Ramone and thus the second with his substitute CJ Ramone. Pete Townshend was a backing singer on Substitute . From the album, the singles Journey to the Center of the Mind (with the B-side Surfin 'Safari ), Substitute (with the B-side Can't Seem to Make You Mine ) and 7 and 7 Is (with the B- Out of Time page ), but none of them were able to place themselves in the charts. The album Acid Eaters reached number 179 on the Billboard 200 , but only stayed in the charts for a week.

Stephen Thomas Erlewine from Allmusic attested the album to be one of the best Ramones albums in a long time, but only awarded two stars out of five. The Rolling Stone wrote that the album was a loving collection of classics of the 60s and awarded three stars out of five.
