Punta Araos is a headland at the Danco Coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . On the east bank of the Aguirre Passage , it lies between Punta Sanhueza and the Vidaurrazaga Glacier .
Scientists of the 5th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1950–1951) named them after Alfredo Krug Peñafiel from the Fuerza Aérea de Chile , who was responsible for radio communications on this research trip .
