Purfing is a district of the municipality of Vaterstetten in the district of Ebersberg , Bavaria .

Purfing is about 15 km from the state capital Munich . In the north of the village is the artificial little Lindsee. In 1998 the Lindseekapelle was built next to the pond. State road 2081 runs through the village and follows the route of an old Roman road.

geology

Purfing lies on the Munich gravel plain, also known as the “Munich inclined plane”. The gravel plain has a thickness of approx. 15 m in some places. In the last Ice Age , 15,000 years ago to be precise, the Inn Glacier brought tons of rocks and rubble with it on its way from the Alps to the sea, which at certain points piled up to form mountains and walls. Here arose between Neufarn and Anzing a Moränenhügelzug . The highest peaks left by the glacier include the tower hill with a height of approx. 561 m and the Purfinger Berg with a height of 568 m. After the glacier melted, a dry, waterless heather, bush and wall landscape was created here.

history

Since Purfing is strategically very favorable due to its location, there are assumptions that the settlement goes back to the time of the Romans. Purfing is mentioned for the first time in 800 AD, which makes this place the oldest part of the municipality of Vaterstetten and is therefore even older than Munich. In the oldest documents owned by the community of Vaterstetten, Purfing with local nobility is called “Purolfinger”.

To the north of Purfing, a Gebelsburg is said to have stood on the tower hill, on the area with the old field name “Spielberg”.

Evidently there is or was an underground corridor that should lead either to Gebelsburg or Kaiserberg. The underground passage was found during construction work on Anzingerstrasse. However, this was filled in.

To the west of Purfing, on Stürzerweg on the transformer station site, there was a lake. This lake was called "Burgsee" and had a flat overflow to the west. This lake is said to have existed around 1900.

There is also said to have been a source close by, perhaps it even fed the lake. This spring is said to have been blown up by the Anzinger pastors in the 1920s because young people bathed there naked.

Popular belief

It has been handed down that in or around Purfing a " Trut " was up to his / her mischief and one should also have seen will- o'-the-wisps .

church

The St. Laurentius Church with saddle tower and its very simple and clear appearance is located on the Purfinger Berg. The interior of the church is characterized by the late Gothic choir with services and vaulted ribs. The baroque high altar with a crescent moon Madonna is the center of the church.
