The Pushkin class , also known as the Pushkin type or Pushkin series , was a series of 25 Soviet fishing factory ships. The ships built by Howaldtswerke in Kiel from 1954 to 1957 were the first stern catchers designed and built in Germany .

history

After successful tests with the ships Oriana and Fairfree , the shipping company Christian Salvesen from Leith had the world's first factory tailgate built as such, Fairtry, built in 1954 . Before the delivery of this trend-setting ship, the Howaldtswerke in Kiel had signed a contract with the Soviet foreign trade organization Sudoimport for the delivery of ten factory tail-catchers from 1955. The design, constructed in Germany, was essentially similar to that of the Fairtry type, but differed in details, such as the guidance of the towing gear or the machine equipment. The CoCom in Paris (coordination committee for multilateral export controls) initially had objections because of the radar equipment and the speed of the fish factory ships, whereupon the ships were built without radar systems and with throttled drive motors. After the first construction lot, which was completed by 1956, a second followed with a further 15 ships, which were to be delivered by 1957. In the end, only 14 of them were built. In 1957 Rickmerswerft then delivered the first rear catcher for operation under the German flag, the Heinrich Meins .

In a memorandum presented in May 1959, the CIA also dealt with the construction of the factory trawlers in Kiel.
