Clarence Ford
Clarence Ford (born December 19, 1929 in New Orleans ; † August 9, 1994 ibid) was an American jazz and R&B musician ( saxophone , clarinet ).
Live and act
Ford was a student of the jazz musician Martin Gabriel , with whom he was related; In 1945 he began his career in the Eureka Brass Band and soon played with Wallace Davenport's be-bop jockeys and in various New Orleans jazz bands. He worked in the 1950s with the Lloyd Lambert Orchestra and with Little Richard , on whose debut album Here's Little Richard (1957) Ford played the baritone saxophone . From 1954 to 1970 he was a member of the backing band of Fats Domino , which he left after a serious car accident. He then returned to New Orleans, where he worked as a session musician.
Ford has also worked with Alvin Alcorn throughout his career, recording with Guitar Slim , Art Neville , Roosevelt Sykes , Frankie Ford , Professor Longhair , Lillian Boutté , Joe Tex and LaBelle , among others . He died of a heart attack after performing at the Marriott Hotel.
Clarence Ford is the father of musician and producer Louis Ford.
