Putney Vale Cemetery
The Putney Vale Cemetery is a confessional cemetery in Putney Vale in south-west London in the London Borough of Wandsworth . It was laid out in 1891, a crematorium was added in 1931 and covers an area of 47 hectares.
There are two chapels in the cemetery, one used for traditional Church of England services and the other for non-denominational or non-religious ceremonies.
There are 87 war graves for those killed in the Commonwealth of World War I and 97 for those killed in World War II. Six porters of the Victoria Cross are buried or cremated here. The burials are scattered all over the site of the cemetery and on a memorial stone are the names of those whose graves are not marked by tombstones. Those who were cremated in the crematorium are also named on the memorial stone, even if their ashes are elsewhere.
