The Pyrenees rock plate ( Ramonda myconi ) is a species of the Gesneria family (Gesneriaceae).
description
The Pyrenees rock plate is an evergreen, perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 5 to 20 centimeters. The leaves measure 2 to 6 × 1 to 5 centimeters. They are diamond-shaped-circular to ovoid, blunt and their edge is notched to sawn. The leaf blade narrows into the short stalk. The top of the leaves is green.
The shaft is 6 to 12 inches long and hairy glandular. The inflorescence consists of one to six flowers . The flowers are five-fold. The crown is 3 to 4 centimeters in diameter. The petals are deep purple, their center is yellow. The corolla tube is much shorter than the corolla lobes. The coronet is five-lobed. The anthers are yellow, 3 to 4 millimeters long and their end is spiky. The stylus are 5 to 7 millimeters long. The fruit is 15 millimeters long.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 48.
The flowering period extends from May to June.
Occurrence
The species grows in shady crevices between limestone rocks. It occurs on the French and Spanish sides of the central and eastern Pyrenees and the adjacent mountains of northeastern Spain.

The Pyrenees rock plate is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens and alpine houses . The species has been in culture since at least 1604.
