The Pyrenees Highway is a trunk road in the west of the Australian state of Victoria . It connects the Calder Freeway in Elphinstone with the Glenelg Highway in Glenthompson .

In Elphinstone, about 43 km south of Bendigo , the Pyrenees Highway branches off to the northwest from the Calder Freeway (M79) and after 13 km reaches Castlemaine and the Midland Highway (A300). From there it leads west via Maryborough to Avoca , where it crosses the Sunraysia Highway (B220).

From Avoca the highway moves west-southwest and crosses the Western Highway (NA8) at Ararat . He leaves Ararat to the south and turns at Maroona to the south-southwest, where it ends in Glenthompson , about 46 km east of Hamilton , on the Glenelg Highway (B160).

history

Until 1911 the highway was called the Elizabeth Highway .
