Origin of name
The McIvor Highway got its name after the name of the Landesum Heathcote from the time of the gold rush .

From the Midland Highway (A300) in Bendigo, the McIvor Highway branches off to the east. It crosses the Campaspe River at Axedale and turns to the southeast.
Via Knowsley it leads to Heathcote, where it meets the Northern Highway (B75), the connection from Melbourne to Echuca .
meaning
Together with the Hume Freeway (NM31) and the Northern Highway, the McIvor Highway forms an alternative connection from Melbourne to Bendigo.
