Qiu Anxiong

Qiu Anxiong ( Chinese  邱 黯 雄 ) (* 1972 in Chengdu , Sichuan Province ) is a Chinese artist.

He studied at the Sichuan Academy of Art in Chongqing and graduated in 1994. He then studied at the Kassel Art College until 2003 . He lives in Shanghai , where he teaches at Shanghai Normal University. In the German-speaking world, Qiu Anxiong was best known for his installation Staring to Amnesia, which he showed in 2008 at the Art Basel art fair . His works often revolve around the complex of topics history, memory and remembrance.

In 2014 he was artist in residence at Villa Sträuli in Winterthur.
