The Qong Muztagh East is a mountain in Ustjuntagh , a mountain group in the Kunlun on the border of the autonomous regions of Xinjiang and Tibet .
The Qong Muztagh East is located in the western section of the Kunlun. The glaciated mountain has a height of 6976 m . The 7167 m high Liushi Shan , highest mountain in the Kunlun, is 133.89 km further west-southwest. 2.23 km to the west rises the almost equally high two-peaked Qong Muztagh (main peak: 6962 m , western peak: 6937 m ). The west and south flanks of Qong Muztagh Ost lie in the catchment area of the Keriya River , which cuts through the mountains to the north and flows through the Keriya district of the same name in the Tarim Basin . The eastern flank of Qong Muztagh Ost is drained to the northern Heishi Lake, which has no outflow .
Ascent history
Qong Muztagh Ost was first climbed on October 6, 2009 by a Russian expedition over the southeast ridge. Diana Borisova, Pavel Demeshchik, Vasiliy Ivanov, Ivan Muyzhnek, Anna Pereverzeva, Sergey Zayko and Otto Chkhetiani made the first ascent.
