The Qu'Appelle River [ kəˈpɛl ] is a Canadian river. It flows over a length of 430 km from Lake Diefenbaker Reservoir in southwest Saskatchewan to the east and flows into the Assiniboine River in Manitoba .
The Qu'Appelle River flows through numerous lakes, among them
- Buffalo Pound Lake , northwest of Regina , created by the damming of the Qu'Appelle River in 1956; the reservoir supplies Regina, Moose Jaw , and the Kalium Chemicals Potash Mine at Belle Plaine.
- the four Fishing Lakes ( Pasqua , Echo , Mission , and Katepwa ) northeast of Regina.
- further downstream, north of Grenfell and Broadview , Crooked Lake and Round Lake .
