Quake the Earth is a Finnish metalcore , groove and thrash metal band from Oulu , founded in 2010.
history
After the band Forensic Hardcore broke up after their singer left at the end of 2010, the remaining members were joined by singer Aki Häkkinen, which led to the founding of Quake the Earth. Together they worked on new songs written by guitarist Jani Kakko. In 2011 the EP First Blood was released , which was recorded in the Mastervox Studios in Oulu. It was produced and mastered by Immu Ilmarinen . The debut album We Choose to Walk This Path was released via Inverse Records the following year, for which the recordings had again taken place at Mastervox Studios. The album release was followed by a tour of Finland. After that, more songs were recorded in the Mastervox Studios before a music video for the song The Legacy We Leave was released in August 2014 . The second album Declaration of War followed in 2016 via Inverse Records .

Carl Sederholm from seaoftranquility.org wrote in his review of We Choose to Walk This Path that punk attitude and heavy metal are mixed here. He could agree with the comparison made by the band with groups such as Lamb of God , Pantera , Hatebreed , Rage Against the Machine and Agnostic Front , whereby he noticed in particular similarities with Hatebreed and Agnostic Front. The singing in the songs is both strong and passionate. Timon Krause from Powermetal.de stated that on Declaration of War you can hear Metalcore, which mixes Metal and Hardcore Punk in equal parts. In addition to role models like Hatebreed, you can also hear groove and classic thrash metal bands like Machine Head and Slayer as influences. Occasionally, elements from stoner metal are also used . The rough singing, which would suit each of the genres mentioned, is also characteristic. Krause also occasionally heard similarities to Moonbow and Sepultura.
