Spring pavilion of the linden spring

The spring pavilion of the linden spring in Birresborn , a local community in the Vulkaneifel district ( Rhineland-Palatinate ), is a well surround of the linden spring from the first half of the 19th century. The spring pavilion is a protected cultural monument .

location

The linden spring is located around four kilometers north of Birresborn on the way to Gerolstein .

history

The Elector of Trier Franz Georg Graf von Schönborn was in 1748 the well bottom with oak boards and top with dressed stone border. This enabled the spring to be used commercially for the first time and the mineral water spread throughout the region.

Around 1820 a new spring version was required to make it easier to fill the clay jugs. Around 1875 the Prussian state leased the spring to a private entrepreneur, who redrafted the spring. In 2009 the source pavilion was extensively renovated.

architecture

The round fountain house, built in the neoclassical style, has a round-arched entrance and eight rectangular window openings. In between there are pilasters that end with a simple capital . The round building is completed by a slate-covered pointed roof, which is crowned by a roof pommel. Inside, a staircase leads down to the fountain basin.
