Quintus Fabius Vibulanus Ambustus

Quintus Fabius Vibulanus Ambustus was a politician of the early Roman Republic and belonged to the patrician family of the Fabians .

He was the son of Quintus Fabius Vibulanus ( consul 467, 465 and 459 BC). Quintus Fabius Vibulanus Ambustus was consul 423 BC. In that year he took over the protection of the city, while his fellow consul fought against the Volscians . In 416 and 414 he was one of the consular tribunes .

Livius IV 47.8 does not mention Fabius for the year 416, but lists under 414 the term of office of Vibulanus Ambustus as the second consular tribunate; to 416 Vibulanus Ambustus is preserved in Diodor XIII 9.1 in the list of consular tribunes. The Fasti Capitolini run “Q. Fabius Q. f. M. n. [---] “.
  4. Livy IV 49.7; Diodor XIII 38.1 mentions Kaeso as the prenomen ; in the Fasti Capitolini it is listed as in the year 416.
