The Rätische saxifrage ( Saxifraga hostii subsp. Rhaetica ) is a subspecies of the host saxifrage ( Saxifraga hostii ), a plant of the genus saxifrage ( Saxifraga ) in the family Saxifragaceae (Saxifragaceae).

features

The Rhaetian Saxifrage is a perennial plant that can reach heights of up to 60 centimeters. It is very similar to the grape saxifrage ( Saxifraga paniculata ). The rosette leaves are 2 to 10 inches long and 0.5 to 1 inch wide. They are about five to ten times as long as they are wide (in contrast to the grape saxifrage, whose rosette leaves are two to five times as long as wide). There are bristly eyelashes on the base, the saw teeth on the edge of the leaf are directed forward. The leaf shape is ribbon-like, hardly widens towards the front and is slightly pointed. The tip of the leaf bends downward on the outside.

The panicle branches are more densely hairy than the saxifrage and usually have more than three flowers .

The flowering period extends from June to August.

Occurrence

The Rhaetian saxifrage occurs from Lake Como to Ortler in crevices and on rubble over limestone at altitudes of 1000 to 2500 meters. The type is common.
