Săcel ( Hungarian Izaszacsal ) is a municipality in Maramureș County in northern Romania .
location
Săcel is located about 60 km southeast of Sighetu Marmației and 12 km west of Moisei on the national road 17C at the southeast end of the Iza Valley. In the center of the village, the county road (drum județean) DJ 186 branches off to Vadu Izei and Sighetu Marmației. About 5 km south of this intersection, just before the Șetref pass , the border with the Bistrița-Năsăud district runs .

At the last census in 2002, Săcel had 3779 inhabitants; 3765 of them were Romanians , 6 Hungarians and 8 Roma . In the last few decades the population has declined somewhat; In 1956, most of the inhabitants were registered with 4379.

National road 17C passes the village to the east. The county road 186 branches off to Sighetu Marmației, which leads through the Iza valley. In the east of the city, the station is on the Salva – Vişeu de Jos railway line .
