Rona de Jos ( German Unterrohnen , Hungarian Alsóróna ) is a municipality in the Maramureș district in Romania .
location
The municipality is located near the Ukrainian border. The town of Sighetu Marmației is about 12 km to the west.
history
The existence of Rona de Jos was first attested in a document from 1360, which bears the title of the aristocratic Tinavar family.
traffic
The national road ( drum național ) DN 18, which connects Sighetu Marmației with Moisei , runs through the village .
Infrastructure
There are four kindergartens and two schools.
population
Mainly Romanians live in the community . In the 2002 census, of the 2,110 inhabitants at the time, two claimed to be Hungarian and eighteen to be Ukrainian . Twenty-one residents called themselves gypsies.
Attractions
In the village there is an old wooden church from 1665.
