Leordina ( Hungarian Leordina ) is a municipality in Maramureș County in Romania .
location
Leordina is located about 31 km southeast of the city of Sighetu Marmației in the valley of the Vişeu River .
history
According to various sources, the place was first mentioned in a document in 1353 or 1373 under the name Vysso . For several centuries it was part of the Maramures County and thus the Kingdom of Hungary . After the First World War he came to Romania.
population
Since the beginning of the official census in 1850, the community has been mostly inhabited by Romanians . Until the Second World War , Jews made up the largest minority (around 20 percent in 1920). The residents of Leordina are now almost exclusively Romanians; In 2002 one Hungarian , one Turk and seven Ukrainians were recorded.
traffic
The national road ( drum național ) DN 18, which leads from Baia Mare to Iacobeni , runs through Leordina for about 4.5 km . There are bus connections to Sighetu Marmației and Vişeu de Sus . The place has two stops on the Valea Vişeului – Borşa railway line .

The place itself has no special features. Its scenic location makes it interesting for tourists.
