Bistra ( Hungarian Petrovabisztra , Ukrainian Бистрий / Bystryj ) is a municipality in Romania .
geography
Bistra is located in Maramureș County in the north of the country, about 12 km south of the border with Ukraine . The Vișeu River flows through the village .
In 2002 esb1137 inhabitants, with the two incorporated villages Crasna Vișeului and Valea Vișeului it was 4902. 90% of the inhabitants are Ukrainians.
history
On July 16, 1930, a freight and passenger train collided between Petrova and Bistra. 22 people died.
