history
Ardusat was first mentioned in 1231 under the place name Erdezat . In the course of time different spellings of the place names appeared: Erdezat , Erdew Cshada , Erdewdzut , Erdewzada , Erdodszada . In 1424 the village was owned by the Dragfi family. In 1569 the village appears in the documents of the time under the name "Voievodatul Ardusatul Românesc" ( Romanian Principality Ardusat ).
In the 18th century the estate belonged to Count Karacsay de Valje-Szaka. In 1748 the landlord family had the fort built. The peasants' apartments were arranged around the fort.
Count Degenfeld was lord of Ardusat from 1810 to 1944. In 1814 the construction of the new fort with 20 rooms began on a hill on the edge of the village. Count Degenfeld planted a giant sequoia tree ( Sequoiadendron giganteum ) in Ardusat , which is still a symbol of the community today. As a result of the land reform of 1945 , the count's estate was owned, parceled out and divided among 441 families from Ardusat, Arieșul de Câmp and Aciua (Satu Mare district). The fort, however, was looted and ransacked, and even the stones from which the fort was built were stolen. The loss of the Count's library was particularly tragic. The Degenfeld family fled to Austria in 1945. After the political change, the Degenfeld family got 180 hectares of forest and 11 hectares of arable land back. She received compensation for the rest of the farmland
Vernier in Switzerland is a sister city of Ardusat.
