Sarasau [ saraˈsəu ] ( German Scharwaschau , Hungarian Szarvaszó ) is a municipality in the northern part of the Maramureş district in Romania .
The place is on the edge of the Tisza Valley near the Ukrainian- Romanian border. The next bigger city is Sighetu Marmației , it is located about seven kilometers southeast of Sarasau.
The place owes its national fame to its well-preserved, historic church from 1640.
economy
Like the entire Maramureș region, Sarasau is characterized by agriculture and livestock. In addition, the beginnings of a tourist infrastructure have recently been developing.
