Rémi Gaillard (born February 7, 1975 in Montpellier ) is a French comedian and web video producer who achieved the status of internet celebrity through his media-documented pranks . The family name " Gaillard ", which is an artist name, translates into German as "joker". Gaillard began filming his pranks in 1999 after he lost his job as a shoe salesman and to date has published over 150 videos on free video sharing sites . This has earned him over 1.6 billion video views on YouTube and 7 million subscribers worldwide. In 2020 Gaillard took part in the local mayoral election in Montpellier and finished fourth in the elections with 9.6%.

Gaillard's motto is: C'est en faisant n'importe quoi qu'on devient n'importe qui!

Due to the ambiguity of the expression n'importe quoi , two translations into German are possible: "By doing something you become someone!" Or "By doing nonsense you become someone!"

This motto can be found every time at the end of his videos and has become his trademark. Its website is accordingly called nimportequi.com .

In 2007 Gaillard shot several videos for the soft drink Orangina and the sporting goods manufacturer Nike , with the aim of spreading them further on the web via internet surfers ( viral marketing ). He also shot videos for the Nobacter razor brand .

Motion picture

Rémi Gaillard's first film N'importe Qui , directed by Raphael Frydman, was released in France on March 5, 2014. The German version of the film is called What the Fuck - Derb und incredibly uncouth . The German rental start was July 7th, 2015, the sales start on July 29th, 2015. In the film, Remi plays himself. His friends, with whom he films his pranks, want to lead a regular life in the future and not join in his nonsense. Remi's girlfriend also wants him to lead a normal life, so Remi is prescribed sedatives by his doctor. This works for a while and Remi works as a salesman for a car care polish. Remi still misses the old days and tries to be somebody again, according to his motto "Whoever does anything becomes somebody". The film repeatedly shows excerpts from clips by Remi, as well as clips that have not been published on the Internet. On IMDb , the film has an average of 5.0 out of 10 stars from 345 ratings.
