The Río Alhama (also known as the Río Merchán ) is a river in the province of Granada in Andalusia .

The Río Alhama rises 12.26 km south-southeast of Alhama de Granada . After a good 5 km the river meets a road and flows along the GR-141. After 7.5 km the Barranco de los Chozones joins from the right and continues to flow next to another road. After another 2 km the Barranco de la Cuesta del Rayo joins from the right. After 10 km the Barranco de Agüllaguerra joins from the left. After 13.66 km the river flows into the Presa del Río Alhama. After 16 km the Río Alhama flows in a gorge in a semicircle around Alhama de Granada and further near the A-402. The river continues to flow to Santa Cruz del Comercio . After 36.33 km the Río Alhama flows into the Cacín just before Moraleda de Zafayona .
