The Río Cuerpo de Hombre (German: "Body of the People") is an approximately 55 km long tributary of the Río Alagón in the mountainous region of the Sierra de Francia in the south of the province of Salamanca in the autonomous region of Castile-León .

The Río Cuerpo de Hombre rises - depending on the strength and duration of the rainfall - at an altitude of about 2000 to 2200 m in the mountains of the Sierra de Candelario ; it first flows north to take a predominantly westerly direction at Béjar . Its confluence with the Río Alagón is in the municipality of Sotoserrano .

Places on the river
history
A flood destroyed several bridges from Béjar to Montemayor del Río on December 13, 1617; two of them have been repaired. There were several water-powered mills and textile factories, especially in Béjar .
Attractions
The mountain and hilly landscapes along the river and the town of Béjar, which has around 13,000 inhabitants, with its huge Plaza Mayor , at the end of which are the Dukes' church and castle, are worth seeing . The mighty castle of Montemayor del Río is also impressive; the place itself has been classified as a conjunto histórico-artístico .
