The Río Huasaga is an approximately 420 km long right tributary of the Río Pastaza in Ecuador and Peru .

River course

The Río Huasaga rises at an altitude of about 800  m 10 km east of the city of Puyo in the province of Morona Santiago . It flows through the Amazon basin in a south-southeast direction. He has numerous narrow river loops and oxbow lakes . At river km 250 he crosses the border to Peru. Then it flows through the province of Datem del Marañón . 80 kilometers above the mouth, the river passes the Huasaga settlement . Eventually it meets the Río Pastaza, into which it flows.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Río Huasaga covers an area of ​​around 4300 km². It extends east of the Río Pastaza. To the west it borders on that of the Río Morona .
