The Río Orteguaza is an approximately 270 km long left tributary of the Río Caquetá in southern Colombia .
River course
The Río Orteguaza rises at an altitude of about 2600 m in the south of the Cordillera Oriental , 60 km north of Florencia . It flows mainly in a southerly direction. The river crosses the west of the Departamento del Caquetá . After about 100 kilometers the river leaves the mountains and reaches the Amazon lowlands . At river km 156 the trunk road I-65 (Florencia - La Montañita ) crosses the Río Orteguaza. One kilometer downstream, the Río Hacha , which flows through the 10 km northwest of the city of Florencia, meets the Río Orteguaza on the right. At river kilometer 128 the Río San Pedro joins the river from the left. Milán is located 105 km above the mouth on the left bank of the river. At river kilometers 103 and 95 the rivers Río Bodoquero and Río Pescado (both from the right) flow into the river. At river kilometer 73 is the place San Antonio de Getuchá on the left bank of the river . The Río Orteguaza finally joins the Río Caquetá 3 km north of Solano . The Captain Ernesto Esguerra Cubides Air Base ( IATA : TQS) is located 4 km above the estuary on the left bank of the river.
