The Río Pintoyacu , also Río Pindoyacu , is the approximately 350 km long left source river of the Río Tigre in the province of Pastaza in the east of Ecuador .

River course

The Río Pintoyacu rises on the western edge of the Amazon lowlands at an altitude of about 500  m , 70 km east of the city of Puyo . The Río Pintoyacu initially flows 100 km in a predominantly eastward direction. Then it gradually turns to the southeast and for the last 50 km in a south-southeast direction. The Río Pintoyacu has countless meanders and oxbow lakes on. It finally meets the Río Conambo , which runs further south , with which it unites to form the Río Tigre. The union point is located 600 m from the Peruvian border at an altitude of about 170  m .

Catchment area

The Río Pintoyacu drains an area of ​​about 3800 km². The catchment area is bordered on the south by the Río Conambo, on the north by that of Rio Villano .
