The Río Conambo is the approximately 270 km long right source river of the Río Tigre in the province of Pastaza in the east of Ecuador . Including the Río Maratiyacu , the total length is about 360 km.
River course
The Río Conambo arises at the confluence of the Río Maratiyacu and Río Jandiayacu at an altitude of about 290 m . The Río Conambo flows through the Amazon lowlands in a predominantly east-southeast direction. He has countless river bends and oxbow lakes . At river kilometer 110 the Río Shionayacu flows from the right into the Río Conambo. Finally, the Río Conambo joins the Río Pintoyacu, which flows further north, to form the Río Tigre, 600 m from the Peruvian border at an altitude of about 170 m .
Catchment area
The Río Conambo drains an area of around 2700 km². The catchment area borders on that of the Río Corrientes to the south, that of the Río Bobonaza to the west, that of the Río Villano to the northwest and that of the Río Pintoyacu to the north and northeast.
