River course

The Río Quinindé has its source in the Cordillera Costanera , 75 km west of Santo Domingo de los Colorados . The headwaters are in the province of Manabí at an altitude of about 300  m . The Río Quinindé initially flows as a small river 30 km in an easterly direction through the mountains and finally reaches the lowlands, which stretches between the ridge of the Cordillera Costanera in the west and the Cordillera Occidental in the east. The Río Quinindé then flows 70 km along the foot of the Cordillera Costanera in a northerly direction. At river kilometer 81 the trunk road E382 (Santo Domingo de los Colorados - Pedernales ) crosses the river. Over the last 50 kilometers, the Río Quinindé gradually turns towards the north-northeast. Finally, the Río Quinindé flows into the Río Blanco in the north of the city of Quinindé .
