The Río Yurumangui is an approximately 90 km long tributary of the Pacific Ocean in the department of Valle del Cauca in western Colombia .

River course

The Río Yurumangui rises in the Colombian Western Cordillera at an altitude of about 1100  m . It flows through the mountains in a westerly direction for the first 30 kilometers before reaching the western Colombian coastal lowlands. At river kilometer 60 the Río Soledad meets the river from the left. Over the next 35 kilometers, it flows through the coastal lowlands in a predominantly westerly direction. For the last 25 kilometers, the Río Yurumangui turns north-northwest. Eventually it reaches an approximately 8 km long estuary that extends south of a bay on the Pacific coast. The port city of Buenaventura is located 60 km north-northeast of the estuary.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the Río Yurumangui covers an area of ​​about 600 km². In the north it borders on that of the Río Cajambre , in the south on that of the Río Naya .
