River course

The Río Cajambre arises at the confluence of the Río Agua Clara and Río Agua Sucia in the western Colombian coastal lowlands at the foot of the Western Cordillera . It flows through the coastal lowlands in a predominantly north-westerly direction and finally flows into a bay on the mangrove coast of the Pacific Ocean.

Source rivers

The Río Agua Sucia , the southern headwaters of the Río Cajambre, is 75 km long. It rises in the Farallones de Cali ridge , 25 km southwest of the city of Cali , at an altitude of about 3000  m ( ). From there it flows in a predominantly westerly direction through the Western Cordillera. It is flanked by a mountain range in the north and south. Finally, it reaches the coastal lowlands at the foot of the mountains, where it joins the Río Agua Clara to form the Río Cajambre.

The Río Agua Clara , the northern headwaters of the Río Cajambre, is 50 km long. It rises in the middle of the Western Cordillera ( ) at an altitude of around 2500  m . It initially flows 30 km through the mountains. It then reaches the coastal lowlands, picks up a larger tributary from the right and turns south, before finally meeting the Río Agua Sucia.
