history

Röcknitz manor, mansion

As the first district was Treben as Drewan on 10 November 1284 in a comparison document between the Meissen Margrave Henry the Illustrious and the Bishop Withego I. of Meissen mentioned. Even then there were several knight seats in Treben. Röcknitz was mentioned as a parish of Treben in 1336.

Röcknitz was shaped by the manor that was first mentioned in a document in the 15th century . The construction of the manor house in the manor began in the middle of the century. This building was laid out in the form of a water castle . Today the building is known as the Röcknitz mansion . Around 1500 there was a manor belonging to the Meissen Cathedral Monastery in addition to the manor .

The Thirty Years War also influenced Röcknitz. In March 1637 the parish in Röcknitz burned down . All of the cattle were taken from the pastor at the time, Christian Kretzschmar, who fled from the Swedes and died in the process. In 1646 only one child was born in Röcknitz and Treben.

In the period from August 1758 to November 1761, the Seven Years' War brought heavy burdens and high taxes for the towns.

Since 1887, with the opening of several quarries, the stone industry has decisively shaped the formerly agriculturally dominated place.

Röcknitz consisted of the three places Röcknitz, Treben and Zwochau. Zwochau was run as a district since 1921 and Treben was incorporated into Röcknitz in 1936. In 1992 there was a merger with the municipality of Böhlitz to form the municipality of Röcknitz-Böhlitz . Röcknitz has been part of the Thallwitz community since 1996.

coat of arms

Röcknitz coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a silver swan in a red shield; a black mallet and a black hammer crossed diagonally in the silver head of the shield, each with a black ploughshare. The swan is borrowed from the family coat of arms of the von Plötz family . Although in " Siebmacher's Wappenbuch " the silver swan in a blue shield is described as the family coat of arms of the von Plötz family, the aristocratic coat of arms is known in the village itself after a representation in the church and on the manor with a red shield background. The three symbols in the main shield symbolize the three former districts of Röcknitz, Treben and Zwochau. The black plowshares mark Röcknitz as a farming village, the hammer and mallet represent the stone industry.
