The tubular Affodill ( Asphodelus fistulosus ) is a species of the genus Affodill ( Asphodelus ) in the subfamily of the Affodill family (Asphodeloideae).

features

The Röhrige Affodill is an annual or short-lived perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 15 to 90 (150) centimeters. Its numerous roots are slender and not thickened. The leaves are united in a basal rosette, semi-stemmed, hollow, blue-green, glabrous and have a membranous edge at the base. They measure 5 to 35 × 0.1 to 0.5 centimeters.

The stem is leafless, hollow and has a branched or unbranched, rarely simple, racemose inflorescence . The bracts of the flowers are dry-skinned. The flower stalks are divided in the middle and stand steeply upright during the fruiting period. The six ovate-elliptical and flat tepals measure 7.5 to 13.5 × 3 to 6 millimeters and are white or pale pink with a pink, green or brown central nerve.

The flowering period extends from March to May.

The obovate to almost spherical capsule fruits measure 4 to 6 × 3.5 to 6 millimeters.

Occurrence

The Röhrige Affodill occurs in the Mediterranean area , in Sinai, on the Canary Islands and in Western Arabia on rocky corridors, fallow fields and ruderal sites at altitudes of up to 800 meters. It was naturalized in all areas with a Mediterranean climate.
