Reclaimer

A reloading device or stockpile recovery device is used to pick up bulk material stored on heaps for further transport on conveyor belts . In addition to simply taking up material, the devices often also have the task of mixing and homogenizing the stored material. The devices often have an additional depositing function that they can partially carry out simultaneously with the reloading.

Bucket wheel reclaimers are the most powerful devices that can take up to 20,000 t of material per hour. These reclaimers work in a similar way to bucket wheel excavators and can either be built as a boom device that runs over the conveyor belt or the bucket wheel is attached to a bridge so that it always runs perpendicular to the face of the pile. The latter type is used when the reclaimer has to take on a mixing function.

Bucket wheel reclaimers for flat storage facilities with a rectangular floor plan are usually built on a rail or crawler chassis and move along the conveyor belt that removes the material. Reclaimers can also be used to manage circular warehouses. In this application, the reclaimer combined with a stacker sits in the center of a ring-shaped pile. This can be easily covered to avoid dust emissions or to keep moisture away from the stored goods. Circular bearings are often used to homogenize the material.

Portal scraper

Portal scraper are devices which span the stockpile with a portal that usually the shape of an inverted V has. One or two outriggers with bucket chains are attached to the portal , which can be adjusted in height using cable winches . The portal scraper picks up the heap from the flanks and hardly mixes the material.

Bridge scrapers loosen the material at the cross-section of the heap with a rake, so that gravity trickles down the flank of the heap down to the base of the heap, where it is picked up by a tank conveyor and transported to the conveyor belt. Because the heap built up in the longitudinal direction by the spreader is removed from the front side, mixing takes place.

Drum reloader

Drum reclaimers are used for applications where a high throughput and a good mixing function are particularly important. Several rotating drum segments with cups are attached under a bridge. The material is conveyed from the cups attached to the outside of the drum segments through a slot into the drum, where it is mixed and falls onto a conveyor belt running through the drum, which transports the material away. Drum reclaimers were introduced in the 1980s and are mainly used for iron ore and coal .
