The locomotive of the series ТЭМ14 (German transcription TEM14) of the Russian Railways (RŽD) is a broad-gauge diesel locomotive , which was developed as a further development of the SŽD series ТЭМ7 in the Ljudinowo diesel locomotive factory from 2011. In contrast to its predecessor , this locomotive is equipped with a double drive unit of 1200 hp each.

Special feature of the equipment

The ТЭМ14 series diesel locomotive was created on the basis of the ТЭМ7A . The difference to this construction is the equipment with two drive units and a total output of 2400 HP. This increased the total mass of the locomotive to a respectable 200 t. The locomotive is intended for shunting and removal of the heaviest units in urban areas and, at the same time, for route service on railways with a gauge of 1520 mm in regions with a moderate climate. The diesel locomotive can work trouble-free at outside air temperatures of −50 ° C to +40 ° C. The machinist's cabin is equipped with the main and auxiliary consoles and also with video monitoring systems. In this way, the work of the systems of many units can be monitored for trouble-free operation.

Each engine unit of the diesel locomotive consists of two independent units, consisting of a diesel engine and a generator. The locomotive can work with one or two power units. For work in the cold season there is a possibility to keep the water and oil circuit of the parked unit warm.

The diesel locomotive is equipped with fire signaling and fire extinguishing systems. The fire extinguishing facilities can be set up either manually or automatically.

In addition, an automatic system for registering and calculating the fuel consumption of the diesel engines is used on the diesel locomotive. The locomotive has the option of automatic control of the central buffer coupling from the machinist's cab and the option of wheel flange lubrication .

Main compound technique

Diesel generator unit

The diesel locomotive is equipped with the two diesel generator units ДГ-880Л . Each of these units consists of the 8-cylinder 4-stroke diesel engine 8ДМ-21Л УХЛ2 with an output of 1200 hp each and the traction generator А724 У2 . The diesel engine and traction generator are connected by a sleeve and installed on a diesel engine support frame. The water and oil cooling as well as the oil and water heat exchanger are also installed on this diesel engine support frame.

Traction generator

The traction unit А724 У2 of the locomotive consists of a traction generator of type ГС - 523М and the rectifier unit . The generator is a synchronous three-phase machine with an output of 800 kW at a linear voltage of 400 V and a frequency of 100 Hz (with a rotor shaft speed of 1500 rpm) and with self-excitation . The traction drive motors and the motor of the cooling fan for the motor and the traction drive motors are fed via the rectifier unit . As a reversing pole machine, the generator can start the diesel engine in reverse motion.

A separate winding of the generator with an output of 100 kW and a voltage of 110 V is planned for the supply of the on-board network of the locomotive, the charging of the accumulator battery , the drive of the oil and fuel pump and the drive of the compressor. The traction units are cooled independently.

Systems of management, regulation and diagnostics are carried out by the microprocessor unit МСКУД .

Pneumatic braking systems

The locomotive is equipped with the pneumatic brake systems of the automatic self-actuating brake for the train brake and the direct-acting compressed air brake for braking the locomotive alone. The locomotive also has an electrical resistance brake .
