history

The Krasnoyarsk Railway was first established in 1936, as a section of the former Central Siberian (1897–1902), Siberian (1902–1912) and Tomsk Railway (from 1912), as well as the originally private Achinsk - Minussinsk Railway , founded in 1911 , which, after various reorganizations, finally in 1934 in the East Siberian Railway, were spun off again. In 1961 the Krasnoyarsk Railway was again connected to the East Siberian Railway, before becoming independent in its current form in 1979.

The electrification of the Krasnoyarsk Railway began in 1959 with the commissioning of a 275 km long section of the Trans-Siberian Railway around Krasnoyarsk with 25 kV 50  Hz alternating current . In the following year it was completed for the entire Transsib section of the Krasnoyarsk Railway. It was the first longer line in the Soviet Union to be electrified with alternating current; Therefore, among other things, the Ф (F) series locomotives imported from France were tested here. The South Siberian Railway Novokuznetsk  - Abakan - Taischet was built electrified from the start in the 1960s.

The plans include the construction of a 460-kilometer rail link from Kuragino to the capital of the previously rail-less Tuva Kyzyl republic . The extension of the Reschoty – Karabula line, which was canceled in the 1970s, is to be resumed and the line to be extended by 50 km to Jarki, west of Boguchany on the Angara .
