RJ , also RJ (born November 9, 1991 ; real name Ronald Hodge ) is an American singer and rapper who became known along with Pitbull and the single U Know It Ain't Love .

Musical career

Born on November 9, 1991 in Los Angeles , RJ began making music with his sister at the age of six and performed in several talent shows. In 2008 he took part in the US casting show American Idol , where he only came in the top 50. Then he began to post cover songs by artists such as Michael Jackson , Lil Wayne or Usher , which also inspired him for his later, own songs, on his YouTube channel.

In the summer of 2011, the record label Kontor Records noticed him and signed him. His first single was called U Know It Ain't Love and was recorded with the American rapper Pitbull . It was released on November 28, 2011 and reached the official single charts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

His second single Baby It's the Last Time also made it into the German and Austrian charts. It contains vocals from him, Qwote and Flo Rida . Baby It's the Last Time was released on May 18, 2012. The song can be found on the sampler Kontor House of the House Vol. 15 .

RJ's singles always consist of two versions, each remixed by Swiss DJ David May . There are also several remixes by various DJs. His songs are also produced by David May and written and composed by May's team of songwriters and composers.

In August 2012, two new singles were announced. The first is called Live 4 Die 4 here he worked again with rapper Pitbull . Just like with the second single 100% Freaky , where A-Roma and Play N Skillz also played. Both songs were mixed again by David May and presented at the Kontor compilations . The two singles were released on September 14, 2012.

On December 7, 2012, the song Always was released as a single, where he was a guest musician with DJ Raafy. The American rapper Snoop Dogg and the hip-hop duo Play N 'Skillz also appeared. The title was presented on Kontor Top of the Clubs Vol. 57 . The track was mixed by the DJ duo E-Partment.

In June 2013, the single was Missin 'Ya in collaboration with Wiz Khalifa , P. Diddy and Dorrough . However, this time the single version was not mixed by David May, but by Kriss Raize. The song was presented on Kontor Top of the Clubs Vol. 59 . In addition to Kontor Records , Subside Records and Oceanlight Productions also released the track.
